Bruges - Belgium - Part 1 - Exploring the City

I visited Bruges for the first time just a few months ago in September as part of an extended road trip to France and Belgium.  I loved the city and posted the above photo on my Instagram account today, which has prompted me to share some photos on Travel Tales of our few days in the city.

We stayed right in the heart of the city, we arrived by boat as part of our trip was taken on the canals of Belgium, more photos of which I will share here in another post.  Above is the boat which was our home for a week, the white one with the bicycles on the stern deck.  It was a lovely mooring, don't you agree?

The rest of the photos will take you on a virtual stroll around the streets of Bruges and speak for themselves. Enjoy your visit!

Enough for today, hope you have enjoyed your virtual stroll around the city? I have so many photos still to share, that I shall save for further posts when I will share Market Day in Bruges and some from a cycle tour we did!

If you have already visited this lovely city maybe this post has stirred memories and if not maybe it has inspired you to visit yourself.

  1. I have happy memories of staying in Bruges with my Mum and have two pictures of that bridge, one by a street artist and another a coloured print that reminds me of our time there. We also went on the canal and also took a canal trip into the countryside. Lovely photos and I look forward to seeing more of your cycle tour.

  2. number 4 and 7 sucked me right in. I love that tall red brick building with greenish windows. I don't do boats, but I think I could do one in a narrow place like this, not far to swim if it sunk or I fell off. ha ha...

  3. What a perfect place to be moored. It is a long time since I visited Bruges, your photos are making me think I need to return before too long.

  4. Strangely enough although I have visited the Low Countries very often I have never been to Bruges. So I was interested to see your virtual tour - thank you very much. It was a pleasure to see the elaborate and varied houses and the grand public buildings. I am now considering a visit there to see for myself!

Thank you so much for visiting Travel Tales and taking the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate your support, which is a great encouragement to me and reading them is always a pleasure. All commenter's will receive a visit back from me and followers a follow back. I will respond to questions here but not reply to every individual comment due to time constraints, a problem we all have.
